The Nevada Registry staff are here to assist you with your all of your professional development needs. We strive to ensure that every interaction with our members, community partners and the ECE workforce as a whole is responsive, expedient, courteous and professional at all times. We make a promise to ensure that your phone calls and email messages are returned promptly, your questions get answered, and that your overall experience with our program is positive. Anything less than excellent customer service is not acceptable. Please feel free to voice your concern(s) if you ever experience a less than positive interaction with Registry staff.

Shelly Nye

Shelly Nye has been in the field of Early Care and Education (ECE) for over 20 years working in a variety of capacities ranging from being a Teacher’s Aid in several licensed child care settings and before/after school programs; to being a Director of a local licensed preschool; to coordinating a number of ECE related programs. As a member of the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Nevada Advisory Board, former Board member of the Nevada Association for the Education of Young Children (NevAEYC), and various other committees and workgroups aimed at raising the formal education and status of professionals working in the field of ECE, she is able to stay involved with the ECE community on a statewide basis. Shelly is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, with her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood and is looking forward to a future where individuals doing the most important work of educating young children receive the recognition and compensation they deserve!

Debbie Walter

Debbie Walter has a background in both administration and Early Care and Education. She has earned an Associate's degree from TMCC and plans to pursue her Bachelor's degree at UNR. She is a former licensed Family Child Care provider with over 10 years of experience in the field of ECE. She was also the Lead Teacher in a licensed pre-school for children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 3 years. She is proud to be a part of an organization that is working hard to garner recognition for the individuals who are part of the ECE field, that promotes respect for this important profession, and that is implementing programs that help recognize the profound impact ECE educators have on the youngest members of our society.

Joetta Forsty has been in the field of Early Care and Education for twelve years. During that time, she has enjoyed working as a licensed Family Child Care provider and Assistant Teacher for the Washoe County School District’s Classroom on Wheels Program. In addition, Joetta has provided early childhood services for the North Valleys of Reno and continues to volunteer at her local library promoting early literacy. Joetta is a registered trainer for the WCSD Virtual Pre-K Program and is excited about the opportunity to share The Nevada Registry with professionals in the ECE field. She is committed to Early Childhood professionals and the amazing work they do – impacting the future of every child they teach!

Marie Rowe has worked in Early Childhood for 16 years in a variety of positions ranging from a Substitute Teacher, Preschool Teacher, Director, and administrator in a non-profit center serving children birth to 5 years of age. She also worked part time with special needs children for 8 years and served as a mentor with the former Nevada Child Care Apprenticeship Program. Marie received her Associate’s degree in Early Childhood at TMCC and her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood at UNR.  She truly believes that The Nevada Registry provides a great opportunity for professionals in the ECE field to be recognized as educators who have a great influence on the education of young children.
