Tip of the Week: Policy and Procedure Training

The Registry does not approve training that is specific to the policies and procedures of a specific center for training hours. Training of this nature is typically included in basic orientation training and is a basic requirement under NAC 432A.320, but not part of the training requirements outlined under the regulations for initial and ongoing training requirements. The policies and procedures implemented by a center related to the operations of the facility, employee expectations, enrollment procedures, required paperwork, etc. are seen as separate and distinct responsibilities for Directors and a condition of employment at a specific facility; not considered professional development eligible for training hours. While the information is certainly important for new staff and required by the regulations, the content isn't specifically related to providing care and education to children and therefore cannot be approved for child care training hours.
