Child Care Expulsion and Suspension Policy

Important message from Christell Askew, Child Care Unit Chief

Letter to Providers

The Child Care and Development Program (CCDP) will be implementing an Expulsion and Suspension Prevention policy effective April 1, 2019. This new policy will require that certain steps be taken by child care providers prior to suspending or expelling a child from your program. The steps include training and support from the Technical Assistance Center for Social Emotional Intervention (TACSEI) and the overarching goal is to improve the quality and continuity of care for children in Nevada.

Prior to policy implementation, CCDP would like to invite you to an open forum for discussion on expulsion and suspension, feedback from your program, and to provide answers to any questions you have about the policy and the support TACSEI will provide.

All licensed child care facilities that are registered as a subsidy provider are encouraged to attend the open forums to get more information and give feedback.
