Nevada Chosen as National Example

The National Governor's Association (NGA), Center for Best Practices is part of the Early Childhood Data Collaboration (ECDC), a consortium with several other national organizations, to support states in developing coordinated, longitudinal early care and education data systems. They are currently finalizing a white paper that will describe the "10 Essential Components of a Coordinated Early Care and Education Data System” and chose Nevada to serve as a good example of a state that has a unique early care and education workforce identifier (one of the 10 components). The white paper will include the following information about Nevada:
"In Nevada, a recent state law requires that all caregivers who work in licensed ECE settings, including family child care, participate in The Nevada Registry, a statewide career development and recognition system. When this requirement is fully phased in by late 2012, state policymakers will have a non-duplicated list of individuals in the ECE workforce as well as valuable data about the workforce as a whole".
