Tip of the Week: YOU Own Your Professional Development!

If you work in a licensed child care facility, becoming a member of the Registry is required. But more importantly, becoming a member of the Registry allows you to be a part of something bigger. You become part of the early childhood story in Nevada. Not only does your unique background help us have a better idea of who is caring for and educating children in Nevada, it helps us capture critical data about the ECE workforce that is otherwise unavailable. That’s why it’s important for you to take charge of your own professional development. Once you become a member, your Registry account securely warehouses your personal information and should be the most accurate picture of who you are as an ECE professional. The application is all about YOU. For this reason, YOU should be the one completing your application. YOU should be the one ensuring that it’s complete and YOU should be the one sending it in. It’s never appropriate for a Director to complete an application on behalf of another person – he/she can only tell part of your story. The best way to ensure that you get the recognition you deserve for ALL of the professional and educational accomplishments you have achieved, while at the same time ensuring your compliance with Child Care Licensing, is to take charge of your own professional development. Embrace it, manage it, celebrate it and OWN it!
