Assembly Bill 65 (AB65) passed during the 2023 legislative session requires children to be five years old by August 1, of the school year the child is entering kindergarten. It is also the intent of AB65 to require children to be six years old by August 1, of the school year the child is entering first grade, and the child has completed kindergarten.
