The Registry team is here to assist you with your all of your professional development needs.

Who we are is evident in our Vision, Mission and Value Statement. It is visible in our polices and procedures, which set the tone for our customer service approach. We are dedicated to helping you get the most out of your Registry membership and strive to ensure that every interaction with our members, community partners and the ECE workforce as a whole is responsive, expedient, courteous, respectful and professional at all times. We make a promise to ensure that your phone calls and email messages are returned promptly, your questions get answered, and that your overall experience with our program is positive – anything less than that is unacceptable. Please feel free to voice your concern(s) if your experience with Registry staff is not a positive one.

Meet the Staff

Shelly Nye,
Program Director

Shelly has been the Program Director of The Nevada Registry since its inception in 2004 and has had the great privilege of taking what was just a concept twenty+ years ago and turning it into a fully functioning system that is now required by state Child Care Licensing regulations for educators working in licensed child care settings.  She has been in the field of Early Care and Education (ECE) for over 35 years working in a variety of capacities ranging from licensed child care and before/after school programs to coordinating programs that support the growth and development of ECE as a profession. She is actively engaged with the ECE community throughout the state through her involvement with various committees and workgroups aimed at raising the formal education and status of professionals working in the field of ECE. As the former Secretary for the National Workforce Registry Alliance, she was able to keep abreast of workforce issues and professional development systems at the national level and continues to ensure that Nevada has a voice at the table when speaking about the work of registries. She holds a degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood from University of Nevada, Reno. Shelly’s lifetime professional goal is to do what she can to ensure that ECE educators receive the recognition and compensation they deserve for the critical work they do!

Joetta Forsty,

Joetta began working at the Registry in 2011 with over 12 years of experience in the field of Early Care and Education. During her time in ECE, she has enjoyed working as a licensed Family Child Care provider and Assistant Teacher for the Washoe County School District’s Classroom on Wheels Program. In addition, Joetta has provided early childhood services for the WCSD Parent University and Family Involvement programs. Joetta is a proud 18-year member of The Nevada Registry and is excited about the opportunity to share The Nevada Registry with professionals in the ECE field. She is committed to Early Childhood professionals and the amazing work they do – impacting the future of every child they teach.

Krystal Van Delden,

Krystal joined the Registry team in July 2015. She has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology and has previously worked as a one-on-one instructor with children with special needs. Having two young children of her own, she knows the importance of Early Childhood and is dedicated to serving ECE educators and helping to raise awareness of the importance of the profession.

Timothy Lashley,
Registry Specialist

Timothy became an official member of the Registry team in October 2016. Previously, Timothy spent nearly nine years in Japan working as an English teacher, voice actor and writer. His time abroad as a teacher for both adults and children exposed him to Eastern philosophy teaching methods as well as Japanese early childhood education. Timothy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, nearly ten years of teaching ESL students, and over 15 years of data entry/technical experience.  With two young children and a wife who works as an Early Childhood educator, Timothy understands the importance of high quality early childhood experiences. He loves spending time with his family and getting the occasional esoteric board game to the table.
