The notice of Public Workshop to allow the Department of Education to begin the regulatory process for bills that were passed during the 2021 Legislative Session has been posted.  You can find meeting information, including how to access the livestream and submit public comment, as well as the agenda and supporting materials for each Workshop at the following links.

Regulatory workshops will be held in the morning on September 30, 2021, beginning at 9:00 am:

We encourage stakeholders to provide Public Comment regarding any of the Workshops that will be held that day, which can be done in a variety of ways:

  • In person, times for public comment are provided at the beginning and at the conclusion of the meeting, and public comment will be taken under each workshop specific to that item.
  • A time limit of three minutes will be imposed for public comments in order to afford all members of the public who wish to comment an opportunity to do so within the timeframe available.
  • If you are unable to attend but would like to provide a written statement for public comment, please submit your statement to NVBoardEd@doe.nv.gov before the close of the Workshop; written public comment may be submitted by email at any time prior to the Workshop for inclusion and consideration.

388.XXX   – KINDERGARTEN ENTRY ASSESSMENT (For possible action)

The proposed changes relate to the Kindergarten entry assessments required within the first 45 days of school, as required by Senate Bill 2 (2021).

388.XXX   – GRANTS FOR PREKINDERGARTEN PROGRAMS (For possible action)

The proposed changes relate to grants for pre-Kindergarten programs including Nevada Ready! State Pre-K, as required by Senate Bill 84 (2019).

The proposed changes relate to the required training or professional development for Read by Grade 3 (RBG3) Literacy Specialists and elementary teachers, and details the duties of the RBG3 Literacy Specialist, as required by NRS 388.159.
