Tip of the Day: Core Competencies

Now that you know more about the Core Knowledge Areas (explained in yesterday’s tip), you are ready to dive into the Core Competencies. Whereas the CKA are a set of broad content areas, the competencies are the observable skills that reflect your knowledge and understanding of the Core Knowledge Areas. By reviewing Nevada’s Core Competencies, you can begin to identify the beginning, intermediate and advanced skills (competencies) that you feel you are proficient at and those areas where further growth and development is needed. This information will be helpful as you think about your work in ECE and assess your future professional development needs.
