A message from the Nevada Department of Education, Office of Early Learning and Development:
The Nevada Department of Education, Office of Early Learning and Development is looking for Pre-K through 2nd grade teachers and ECE higher education faculty to assist with a Praxis test review.
During the January Commission on Professional Standards in Education (COPS) meeting, the Commission requested test reviews be conducted prior to June 1, 2019, for the following Praxis tests:
- 5621 Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT): Early Childhood
- 5024 Education of Young Children
- 5025 Early Childhood Education
The format of a test review consists of convening experts in the field to physically review the test with the answer key used as a resource. Participants review the tests individually and then engage in group discussion about the tests. For these three early childhood tests, we have identified Nevada teachers in the Pre-K through Grade 2 setting, as well as higher education faculty/staff in the content/pedagogical areas the tests assess.
We have scheduled the test review for Friday May 10, 2019, in two locations. We will virtually connect the Nevada Department of Education Boardroom in Las Vegas and the Early Childhood Professional Development Center in Reno. This will allow for deeper collaborative discussion upon reviewing the tests. The review process will require approximately 6 hours, with a flexible/working lunch.
We hope you will be able to participate in the test review process. It is important to share your expert professional feedback with the Commission as it considers the adoption of the Principles of Learning and Teaching: Early Childhood test. Thank you in advance for your willingness to serve in this capacity.
