CPR Instructor Listing Phase-Out

In June 2016, The Nevada Registry stopped approving CPR and First Aid training. It was at that time that the workforce was notified that any CPR/First Aid training taken by one of five approved organizations (as listed in Child Care Licensing regulations; American Heart Association, American Red Cross, American Safety and Health Institute, EMS Safety Services, Medic First Aid.), would be accepted by Child Care Licensing to meet training requirements and by The Nevada Registry for Career Ladder Placement, so long as an official certification card was issued. This change opened up new opportunities for CPR instructors who had not yet opted to submit training for approval through The Nevada Registry while at the same time increased options for ECE professionals who could now seek out CPR/First Aid training from a broad range of CPR instructors in their own communities – regardless of the instructor’s previous interest/willingness to submit their training for approval through The Nevada Registry.

To help create a smooth transition between what the ECE workforce and CPR instructors had become accustomed to and the new process of automatically accepting CPR/First Aid training delivered by one of the five recognized agencies, the CPR Instructor Listing was launched. The listing was intended to be a temporary service until the workforce was well-informed of this change in process and helped ECE professionals continue to easily locate CPR/First Aid training now that individually approved events would no longer be listed on the Registry’s Training Calendar.

It has now been over three years since the CPR Instructor Listing launched. Since that time, thousands of ECE professionals have successfully located CPR/First Aid training that meets the requirements for Child Care Licensing and The Nevada Registry. It is now commonly understood that official certification cards from one of the five recognized agencies must be received and that a Registry-approval code is no longer needed for it to be accepted by Child Care Licensing or The Nevada Registry.  Therefore, the CPR Instructor Listing will be phased-out as of December 31, 2019 in order to make room for new and improved membership benefits tied to the recently launched membership portal.  Please keep in mind that this does not impact your ability to find CPR/First Aid training. Just keep doing what you have for the past three years - select any CPR instructor/agency who issues the official certification card from one of the five recognized agencies, including the instructors/businesses currently listed in the CPR Instructor Listing. Though there will no longer be a list of participating CPR instructors on the Registry website, you can continue to utilize these individuals to obtain your CPR/First Aid training so long as they continue to issue official certification cards.
