Training Approval System Update - October 2016

Attention Trainers!

Last month, we shared with you some of the results from the survey we conducted. From that survey, we learned that the trainer community is truly engaged and interested in knowing more about the new trainer qualification criteria and improved training approval system, each step of the way.

In this month's update, we'd like to provide you with a sneak peek of our progress, key 2017 date information and answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we're receiving from the community.

Training Dates
We've received quite a few inquiries about 2017 training dates -- we won't be accepting dates until trainers begin qualifying for trainer approval. Trainers will be notified (mid-late December) when the trainer qualification application process is available and when the new system is ready to accept training requests for the 2017 calendar year. Until then, all other standard training approval policies and procedures remain in effect. As a reminder, requests to register as a trainer for the first time are not being accepted at this time. The application process will be open to existing and new trainers once the criteria is finalized. Until then, be sure to check your email and the Registry blog regularly for updates throughout the remainder of this process.

If I'm already a registered trainer, will I have to reapply?
Yes, all existing trainers will be required to qualify through a standardized application process once new trainer criteria has been established.

Is there anything I can be doing now to prepare for the new criteria?
The criteria that must be met will be clearly outlined on the application form; however, if you have not already provided it to the Registry, begin gathering your educational documents (high school diploma, etc.), certifications, credentials, licenses and/or endorsements.

When will the proposed criteria be released for input from the trainer community?
Draft criteria was recently presented to the Trainer Criteria Workgroup; a subcommittee of the Registry Advisory Committee for initial feedback. A revised version will be vetted within the next several weeks through the full Registry Advisory Committee before being released to the trainer community. Target date; mid-late November. Updates will be announced on The Nevada Registry blog and 'For Trainers' page of the website.

What will criteria be based on?
Trainer categories will be created based on the following:
* Content expertise
* Formal education
* Specialized training and certification
* Experience providing training to adults
* Ongoing professional development
* Direct experience in ECE

Will I be able to train in all of the same topics?

Not necessarily. Much will depend on the type of trainer category for which you qualify.

Will I be able to submit training requests online?
Yes, an online submission process will eventually be a functionality we offer.
