(Teacher Education and Compensation Helps)

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Nevada is part of Nevada's early childhood professional development system. T.E.A.C.H. is an acronym for teacher education and compensation helps.  T.E.A.C.H. is designed to address the lack of early childhood specialization, inadequate compensation, high turnover rate, and the lack of professional recognition for early childhood professionals in Nevada. T.E.A.C.H. provides scholarships for Home Care Providers, Teachers, Teacher Aides, and Center Directors/Owners who work in a licensed early childhood facility and would like to pursue a degree or certification in Early Childhood Education.

T.E.A.C.H. scholarships are available when working towards a Nevada Child Care Apprenticeship Certificate, an ECE Certificate of Achievement, an ECE Associate of Science degree, an ECE Associate of Arts degree, or a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education.  Scholarships are available for any of the above listed degrees from:  The College of Southern Nevada, Great Basin College, Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada College, The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and The University of Nevada, Reno.

T.E.A.C.H. scholarships are comprehensive and require cooperation from the scholarship recipient and their sponsoring center.  Scholarships have many components including:  paid tuition, book reimbursements, paid time off from work, bonuses from T.E.A.C.H. as academic progress is made, commitment of scholarship recipients to their sponsoring center, and a center bonus or raise as the recipients commitment is completed.

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Nevada requires that recipients remain employed at least 19 hours a week and complete at least 9 college credits a year as they work towards completion of their chosen academic goals.  The Apprenticeship model is designed to provide a reflective and guided experience for entry-level early childhood teachers working with young children; and has been designed as a two-year program that consists of working with a mentor, accumulating 4000 on the job training hours, and completing twenty-one college credits.
