Tip of the Day: Core Knowledge Areas
Posted Monday, August 17, 2015 by Shelly Nye
Every Registry-approved training is assigned a Core Knowledge Area (CKA). As a result, the Professional Development Profile (see sample) that you receive when you apply to the Registry (and each time you renew) shows a breakdown of your completed training by CKA. This information can be used to guide your professional development. Take a look at your report to determine the areas where you already have a strong knowledge base and those in which further learning and development is needed and choose your next professional development opportunities accordingly! As you build your knowledge base and acquire new skills, distributing your learning across all CKAs helps build a balanced approach to providing quality early care and education services.
