Congratulations to Dr. Joanne Everts - one of the true pioneers of ECE in Nevada! As the visionary for The Nevada Registry, we are forever grateful and thankful for your forward thinking wisdom, insight and support. We are so lucky to have had you as our leader in the formative years of The Nevada Registry and are so happy that you are being honored this way. This award is beyond well-deserved for the invaluable contributions and differences you have made in the lives of thousands of children and Early Childhood professionals in Nevada! Thank you for leading the way for all of us who follow....
Fowarded from the Facebook page of the Human Services Network:
Joanne Everts, PhD, is this year's winner of the Mike O'Callaghan Humanitarian of the Year Award!
Dr. Everts "set the stage in Nevada" for the state's Early Childhood Learning and Development workforce and programs. Many of the programs she helped develop and implement are still in existence: The Nevada Registry, Nevada Association for the Education of Young Children (NevAEYC), Family Resource Centers, and the statewide Pre-K Standards and Infant-Toddler Guidelines she authored.
Dr. Everts is known for her passion for young children and their families, and for nurturing and mentoring the professionals who serve and support them. She recognized the need to grow leaders in the field, and many early childhood educators and experts in Nevada acknowledge Dr. Everts' role in their professional development and growth as educators, advocates and leaders.
She has left an indelible legacy that will continue to support early childhood education in our state for generations to come. Please join us on January 9th to thank her for her extraordinary work that has made Nevada a better place to live, work, and grow!
