Make your time and investment in professional development count!

Always check The Nevada Registry’s online training calendar BEFORE registering for or attending any training to ensure that it is Registry-approved. If it is not approved by The Nevada Registry, Child Care Licensing will not accept it!

Several of the most commonly made mistakes with regard to seeking and taking training are highlighted below, but be sure to review the Training and Professional Development FAQ page of our website for in-depth answers to many more commonly asked questions regarding training.

Navigating the Online Training Calendar Video Tutorial

The Informed Consumer

Historically, certificates of completion have been issued at the conclusion of each in-person Registry-approved training. However, with the addition of virtual training sessions, the attendance tracking feature and The Nevada Registry’s data sharing partnership with online training organizations, you may no longer receive a paper certificate. But when you do, it is important that you ensure the certificate includes a Registry-issued approval code. If the certificate does not contain a Nevada Registry approval code*, it may not be an approved training session, or it may simply be an oversight on behalf of the trainer. In either case, the training session or course will not be counted toward your annual training requirements for licensing without proper documentation of Registry approval.

You may also use the ‘Transcript of Approved Training’ found in the ‘Training Documentation’ tab of your Online Portal to verify your completed training and professional development. Every Registry-approved trainer has signed an agreement stating they will submit a digital attendance record to The Nevada Registry within 5 days following a Registry-approved training session. When a trainer submits their attendance record the training is added to the accounts of active members (following verification by the Registry) as long as you have provided your Registry ID number and/or the email address associated with your Nevada Registry account. Your training transcript is considered verified Nevada Registry approved training and can be accepted in lieu of the Certificate of Completion. Please click here to learn more about this feature.

Tips for Selecting Accepted CPR/First Aid Training

Buyer Beware

Training organizations will occasionally send flyers/emails advertising upcoming training events/courses. The message may state that all events/courses are approved for hours in most states. Do not assume that the training/courses are approved by The Nevada Registry. Why? Even if an agency has submitted their courses for approval by the Registry, there is no guarantee that ALL their available training sessions have been accepted/approved. As with ALL training, you should refer to the Registry’s online training calendar to determine whether a course you are interested in taking has been approved.

Additionally, online training organizations may advertise their organization as being approved/recognized by The Nevada Registry. However, as with in person/virtual training sessions, all courses listed on their website may not be Registry approved. Please keep in mind most approved online training organizations are approved in other states as well. Be sure to select from the ‘Nevada’ course catalog when searching for courses on their websites AND verify the training is listed on the Registry’s online training calendar before registering.

In all cases, do not assume hours will be accepted by Licensing just because the course is listed on a flyer/email sent by the organization and/or their website. If a training does not appear on the Registry’s online training calendar, it is not approved and will not be accepted by Licensing.

Do your research before registering for any training to be certain that a training has been approved PRIOR to taking it! The easiest way to do this is to visit our online training calendar. Anything that has been approved by the Registry, and that is open to the public, will appear on the calendar up until, and including, the day of the event. If ever you are in doubt, feel free to contact our office to speak with a Registry staff member who can verify the approval status for you.

*Training included in this document is automatically accepted without a Registry-issued approval code. In order to be accepted it must either be offered by a recognized Early Childhood organization or include CEUs issued by the organization. Non CEU-bearing training will not be accepted.
