2018 Kindness Campaign

The Nevada Registry is making a resolution to focus on the positive in the coming year. In honor of this resolution, we are kicking off the 2018 Nevada Registry Kindness Campaign!

We are challenging current Registry members and approved trainers to share their acts of kindness on our Facebook page to show the goodness in people! Acts of kindness can be big or small – just anything that shows how you and the people you are surrounded by are giving back to your community. For example, are you an approved trainer who offers discounts on training in exchange for can food donations? Do you organize clothing drives for homeless children? We believe that one small act of kindness leads to another so we are inviting you to help us spread the joy! Please use #NRkindnesscampaign when posting. The only thing we ask in return is that we keep posts about each other’s acts of kindness encouraging. Negative or disparaging comments will be removed in order to allow us to maintain a positive space for interaction among our members.

To kick things off, we’d like to share what we have been up to at the Reno Professional Development Center in the spirit of giving back. The Nevada Registry, in partnership with several colleagues from T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Nevada, Nevada Pre-K Standards and the Nevada Department of Education are currently crocheting (or knitting) newborn and preemie-sized red hats to support the “Little Hats. Big Hearts” program of the American Heart Association. These hats will be provided to area hospitals to be presented to parents of babies born in February as part of their American Heart Month awareness program. Our goal is 50 hats and as of today, we have exceeded our goal with more than 60 hats (and counting)!

Do you crochet or knit? If so, feel free to join us! Yarn specifics and sample patterns can be found here. Send your completed hats to our office at 240 S. Rock Blvd., Ste. #143, Reno, NV 89502 by January 10th and we’ll add them to our collection.  Hats will be delivered to the American Heart Association on January 12th.
