Guiding Principles of The Nevada Registry
Research consistently demonstrates that the quality of early childhood experiences has a lasting impact on children’s learning, development, and future success. The knowledge, skills, and competencies of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) professionals play a critical role in creating nurturing, high-quality learning environments that help children thrive.
Supporting the professional growth of the early childhood workforce—and recognizing individuals for their education, specialized training, and professional achievements—is equally important. Professional recognition strengthens the workforce, elevates the field, and reinforces the essential role early childhood professionals play in the healthy development of Nevada’s children and families.
These principles serve as the foundation of The Nevada Registry’s Vision, Mission, and Values, guiding our commitment to advancing a skilled, recognized, and valued early childhood workforce across Nevada.
History of The Nevada Registry
The Nevada Registry was established in 2002 following the adoption of Nevada’s voluntary Career Ladder and Core Knowledge Areas by the Nevada State Child Care Advisory Committee. These foundational systems were developed through recommendations from the Quality, Training and Licensing Subcommittee and the valuable input of hundreds of early childhood professionals from across the state.
With support from the Nevada Office of Early Care and Education and through a contract with the Washoe County School District, the framework to implement these systems was created, officially becoming The Nevada Registry.
The vision for a statewide professional development registry had been shared by Nevada’s early childhood community for many years. Bringing that vision to life required the dedication and collaboration of early care and education professionals, organizations, and stakeholders from across the state. Their collective efforts established a centralized system that supports the professional growth, recognition, and advancement of Nevada’s early childhood workforce.
Today, The Nevada Registry serves as Nevada’s official professional development registry, connecting thousands of early childhood professionals with career pathways, professional development opportunities, workforce data, and recognition for their education and experience.

Funding
As of July 2025, The Nevada Registry’s contract is managed by the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Social Services. The project is funded through the Federal Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) – Quality Improvement Dollars and is administered through a subaward contract with the Washoe County School District.
