Attention Trainers! New Trainer Criteria Unveiled

The Nevada Registry is excited to unveil the new trainer qualification process and approval criteria. This new process is the product of the hard work of The Nevada Registry team, our Trainer Criteria Workgroup, the Registry Advisory Committee and your feedback. The new requirements were developed with one goal in mind: to create better outcomes for children through the delivery of high-quality training, by highly qualified trainers.

Two documents have been created to outline the new trainer qualification process and approval criteria: Trainer Qualification and Approval Criteria – Early Childhood Trainer and Trainer Qualification and Approval Criteria – Topic Trainer. Each document explains the criteria for each trainer category. The category that trainers will qualify for is dependent on the individual’s educational background in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and/or specialization in specific topics. Trainer categories will be determined by The Nevada Registry based on the information verified through the application process.

Opportunities to provide updates and consider feedback from our currently registered trainers have occurred throughout this process. Our first survey found that trainers are overwhelmingly enthusiastic about helping The Nevada Registry and its partners achieve the goal of creating better outcomes for children through the delivery of high-quality training, by highly qualified trainers. To reach this goal, it is important that trainers understand the new criteria and qualification requirements. To help us ensure that the criteria is clear, we have invited registered trainers to complete a short survey. The survey consists of three (3) questions and will take only five (5) minutes. Registered trainers; please check your email for the link to the survey that was sent to you on 11/22/16.

A second opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification about the new trainer criteria and qualification process will occur during the week of December 5th in the form of a Q&A session conducted via conference call (available to currently registered trainers only). Call-in information will be provided in the coming weeks.

The trainer application process is slated to open mid-December to allow approved trainers to begin submitting training approval requests for January 2017. The application process will only be open to currently registered and active trainers during the month of December. No NEW trainer applications will be accepted until January when the criteira officially launches. Keep your eyes on your email, the Registry blog, and the “For Trainers” page of the website for an official announcement when the system is open for submitting an application.

We look forward to working together to make positive changes to the training approval system and creating better outcomes for young children in Nevada!
