Policy Transmittal Message from the Division of Social Services:

The Child Care Licensing section of the Child Care and Development Program is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of children, as required by Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 432A and Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 432A (Services and Facilities for Care of Children). Under NAC 432A.040, a child is defined as a person who has not reached their 18th birthday. As a result, all required initial trainings for child care providers must be child-specific.

Review the requirements here: CC IM 01-26 CHILD CARE FACILITY INITIAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS 02.2026.

The Nevada Registry has created a companion resource to help providers better understand these requirements.

If you have questions, please contact Child Care Licensing by email at ChildCareLicensing@dss.nv.gov or by phone at 702-486-3822 or 775-684-8781.
