Child care facility employees who are under 18 years of age (minors) are subject to a background check as a condition of employment. These employees who are minors, must be fingerprinted and/or live-scanned. Please reference this NEWS post for further clarification.
Underage caregivers are required to complete all initial training required by Child Care Licensing. If under age 18, caregivers must have completed or be currently enrolled in a Child Development Course which is approved by The Nevada Registry. Not more than 50% of caretakers can be under age 18 and someone over age 18 must be on the premises during all hours of operation. There are no age restrictions for Registry membership. All caregivers in licensed facilities, including those under age 18, must apply/become active members of The Nevada Registry within 90 days of employment.
